Fishing Basket/Bag

Recently we were asked to donate a fishing basket for a fundraiser to benefit the University of Delaware's Men's Ice Hockey team.  Since our nephew is a team member we were delighted to support the fundraiser.
However, the logistics of arranging fishing tackle and  accessories in a basket proved to be somewhat difficult.  The sweatshirt, hat, lures, and hooks fit easily enough; but, the tackle bag the fishing rod and reel combination was  another story.
We ended up arranging everything in a cool duffle bag, wrapped it all in plastic and added a gold (U of D colors) bow.  If I do say so myself it ended up looking fantastic.

New Jersey's Salt Water Fishing License/Registration

So many questions concerning the New Jersey's Salt Water Fishing License/Registration.. Mike's had at least 10 phone calls and 7or 8 customers ask about the Salt Water License/ Registration process. The Powers that Be should be announcing the decision soon.

Renovations almost completed

Our brick and mortar store renovations are 99.9% completed. We still have some minor repairs to make; but the worst is over.


Mike is busy sorting, pricing and displaying newly delivered fishing tackle. He is eagerly awaiting the arrival of the automated fishing line winder machine.

 On the downside, insurance woos still have not been settled. The Mike's Sporting Goods ecater store is not open for business yet; but we are making progress

Inaugrel High School World Fishing Finals

Since I am an avid football and baseball fan, I follow my favorite high school, college, and pro team religiously. I knew there were fishing pro teams and I follow that circuit as well.   What I didn't realize was there is national college fishing championship.  Thanks to  twitter, I was introduced to the the national college fishing championships for the first time this year.
And for the first time ever The Bass Federation announced there is going to be a High School World Fishing Finals in Arkansas.

New Jersey's Free Fishing days for 2010

"It is a beautiful fishing day ; take your kids fishing".
Saturday, June 5th, and Sunday June 6th, are New Jersey's free fishing days. 
On the free fishing days, anyone can fish NJ public waters without a license or trout stamp.  Size and daily catch limits are in effect and small mouth bass and large mouth bass caught must be released.  Take this opportunity to connect with your child and have fun in the process.
